Grand Masti Release Halted In Punjab, Haryana & Chandigarh
Amidst a flurry of heavy promotional sprees ensuring their film gets noticed everywhere, Grand Masti makers have landed into a new trouble altogether. The Indianised version of an American Pie and Boogie Nights inspired sex comedy, Grand Masti, needless to say, is filled with lots of adulterated jokes and toiler humour.
A promo that almost caused a sensation taking the cheeky double meanimg dialogue status to an all time high with references as unccoth and derogatory as a doodh ki factory or a condom with a kela, Inder Kumar’s revamped edition brings back three friends Vivek, Aftab and Ritesh back to their college reunion where their sexcapades run high.
While the trio are busy trying the bahar ka biryani more than the ghar ki daal chaawal, the total encounters with Rose-Mary-Marlow (we know what you are thinking!) keep their rockets flying high up (winks). But all this extra dose of sexual perversion and double meaning cheap jokes has just added to the makers’ dilemmas.
According to reports, a lawyer has filed a petition against the film and its makers accusing the film of containing cheap adult content that are derogatory to the status quo of women in India. As a result of which, Grand Masti might not see a release in the states of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. Tagging the content of the sequel to the 2004 hit Masti ‘obscene and degrading’, the lawyer has also referred to the Central Board of Film Certification to reconsider their decision of releasing the film worldwide. Earlier films like Kyaa Super Kool Hai Hum and its predecessor Kya Kool Hai Hum had also set a benchmark for cracking us up with sexual PJs as we laughed it out altogether.
The film is all set for a September 13 release and the hype around the film is somewhat positive, given the theme of the film being a catchpoint to attract masses to the cinema theatres. Now all that needs to be seen is how the Grand Masti team actually battles it out to have a proper release in these hostile regions as well. And if not, how would this negative publicity affect the collections of the film. Grand Masti stars Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Ritesh Deshmukh in the lead along with six other heroines who trudge form the pretty to the bombshell
